The Oak Ridge Boys have played in Laughlin, Nevada for over 30 years… we no longer DO, but the memories of those times will never go away… some good… some really bad… usually MY fault… Guilty as charged… but just today I was thinking of a great memory…….a few years ago this happened…One of the best friends we have is a fan of well over 40 years, a woman named Mary Wheat… she is close to 100-years-old, Thank the Good Lord. She is in better shape than my old ass at 66-years-old… But as usual I digress… I LOVE Mary… she was riding around on one of those little Rascal Scooters thru the casino……and for reasons lost to history, my Brother Duane Allen had some sort of medical issue and HE was on one of them as well…..ALL Week!!! So as the great Prophet Frank Zappa once said, “the Crux of the Biscuit Is the Apostrophe”… Seeing Duane Allen and Mary Wheat charging down the Casino Floor together is a sight that I shall “Nigh unto Never forget” … Looked like Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon trying to beat each other to that lousy Buffet… I can still smell the Orange Chicken… ugh… I love Mary A LOT. I miss Laughlin… but only a little…
