Celebrating Terry Ree, Friendship, and Life

If you were around during the heyday of TNN (The Nashville Network), you probably caught the unique and hilarious comedy of Williams and Ree (aka, “The Indian and The White Guy”). They appeared on Florence Henderson’s cooking show called Country Kitchen and did a stint on Hee Haw for 2 seasons. Bruce Williams and Terry Ree were partners in crime for over 55 years, doing television, live shows across North America, and USO shows for the US military overseas.

On December 21, 2024 we sadly lost “The Indian” Terry Ree. I recently traveled to Nashville to attend a celebration of life for Terry. That guy and myself were the best of friends of many years back in the 80’s… so many great memories from Tahoe, Vegas, Atlantic City and all points in-between…

Events like these are a celebration, but never “fun” of course, but I really felt the need to honor my buddy and I’m glad I did. It was great to see some people I hadn’t seen in a good while, too. They wanted me to play but I never got around to it… I just talked… a lot… mainly to Fred Satterfield, Jon Mir and their wives and Duane Allen… Duane spoke some good words and it was great to see him. It’s been a few months and catching up is always fun.

Terry and I used to do the shows and then stay up all night many times… you know… talking about the weighty issues of the day while making red wine disappear… I particularly enjoyed the discussions about the Balance of Trade between the United Staes and South America… that was a favorite topic!

As we all know, people of my generation are passing away at an alarming rate, it seems. I know it’s just part of life but it hurts to lose so many great friends. I have kinda always said that the next funeral I attend will be my own… but by the grace of God that hasn’t happened yet. I guess, as usual, it will take me some time to process this loss, like it does all the others. I really wish that we could all be safe and well and happy. This world makes that kinda hard but I still wish for it. We could all do better but it is what it is, I suppose.

While I’m posting another “tribute” to another lost friend, I’m grateful to have this place to share my thoughts and that you are interested enough to read them.

Rest easy, Terry….You are not forgotten……..

Ron, I am so sorry for all your losses last year. Thank you for sharing your very personal feelings with each loss. It really gives us an inside look at your heart and vulnerability. Each time you open your heart we learn about who you are. I know that if there is one thing I have learned since knowing you is that you surround yourself in your world with first class gentlemen and women and they feel that same exact way about you. I am blessed to be able to call you a true friend. You are a blessing to so many. Your time is far from over. We NEED you here. And when God says it’s time then fine it will be time. But don’t rush it!!! Lol

Right On, RF! Terry was a special friend. We are privileged to have shared great times together. Love to Carol, Rob, Michael and our brother Bruce.
